Made by chemists, not bought in
Most scent companies choose from a catalogue of oils made elsewhere. We formulate and blend our own, from UK-sourced materials, at our site in Manchester.
That changes what's possible. We can start from a blank page, adjust a fragrance a few percent at a time until it sits right in your space, and make the next litre exactly like the first. Your fragrance stays consistent across every site and every refill.
Elix Air was started in 2023 by Nathan Baines and Luke Whitehurst, friends of almost twenty years. Nathan has run a chemical manufacturing business for a decade; Luke has spent his career close to the hospitality industry. Between them they know how a fragrance is built and what a hotel needs from it.
From brief to bottle
A bespoke fragrance follows the same path as any of our installations, with more time spent in the lab.
Discovery
We learn the brand, walk the space, and talk about the people who use it and how you want them to feel.
Scent profiling
We translate that into a direction: the families, the key notes, what to avoid and how strong it should be.
Samples
Usually two to four weeksOur lab builds a first set of samples. You react, we adjust, and we repeat until it's yours.
Survey and trial
No obligationWe test the fragrance in the real space, at real strength, before anything is signed.
Installation
Machines fitted and programmed by zone and by hour.
Servicing and refinement
Monthly visits to refill and service, and small changes to the blend or strength as the seasons and the space change.

Does a bespoke fragrance cost more?
No. Bespoke fragrance comes at no extra charge with our service plans.
How long does it take?
Usually two to four weeks, depending on how complex the fragrance is and how many rounds of samples it takes to get right.
Who owns the fragrance?
We keep the formula, and it's yours exclusively. We'll never offer your fragrance to anyone else.
Can we sell it to our guests?
Yes. When guests ask to take the scent home, we can produce it for you as a home product.
